Hello,

Does anyone know if ZFB 1230 is still broadcasting? Looking for current information in order to update my christian radio list. Noticed this post that's about 3 years old, but would like to confirm they are still broadcasting Christian radio over the air in Bermuda. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hello Arild,

Read on your Radio blog that you have received a email QSL from WBEN, Buffalo. I have tried to get a QSL from this station too, but so far no joy.
I like to sent them a email with a soundfile but the email addresses on their webpage don't accept attachments. Do you have a email address
for me of Tim Wenger who verified your report? Thanks in advance.

Hi Pentti,

Thank you very much for your posting and for correcting my blog posting. You are absolutely right that this is not a new station, it has only changed name and apparently also ownership. "CDN La Radio" must be the very same station listed as "La Mezcla" in the latest WRTH with the call sign HIRL in Santiago. When looking through the "Amazing AM" list of all stations heard in Norway 1945-1994, available at http://www.dxlc.com/lists/mwdx/central_america.pdf, I can see that both HION on 1040 and HIRL on 1140 has been logged also in Norway in the 1970s and the 1980s. I have updated my blog posting above with your information. Thanks again for your comment.

Thank you very much for your posting and for correcting my blog posting. You are absolutely right that this is not a new station, it has only changed name and apparently also ownership. “CDN La Radio” must be the very same station listed as “La Mezcla” in the latest WRTH with the call sign HIRL in Santiago. When looking through the “Amazing AM” list of all stations heard in Norway 1945-1994, available at http://www.dxlc.com/lists/mwdx/central_america.pdf, I can see that both HION on 1040 and HIRL on 1140 has been logged also in Norway in the 1970s and the 1980s. I have updated my blog posting above with your information. Thanks again for your comment.

Hi,
CDN La Radio is not a new station. HIRL Santiago 1130 has previously been known as Radio Exitos, and then Cadena de Noticias. It's been logged many times in 1990's in Scandinavia. HION CDN La Radio 1040 Santo Domingo was Radio Central in 1990's. Then it was changed to Cadena de Noticias and began transmitting in parallel with 1130. This station also was logged in Scandinavia. I myself have QSL from Cadena de Noticias on 1040 and logged them also on 1130.

[...] WDCD in Albany, New York is a fairly easy station to hear in Norway as it is by far the most common station on 1540 kHz. Getting a reply from WDCD hasn’t been easy, but I was lucky and got an e-mail from Program Director Peter Kaye in my first attempt. This was again for a reception report from the Lista DX-pedition in February, but WDCD was heard even around summer solstice a few weeks ago at my home QTH. [...]

[...] WSOK in Savannah, Georgia, was another station heard on 1230 on our DX pedition to Lista in February. WSOK was heard all three nights playing nonstop gospel music. Several hours of listening were needed to get an ID, hard to tell if that was because the station don’t identify very often or because of the conditions (I suspect the latter…). Although the quality of my recording was not too good, v/s Marty Foglia writes in his e-mail to me that “the audio you sent was probably the best I’ve gotten, from your part of the world, yet!”. May be he has received many recordings from Scandinavian DX-ers containing VERY poor audio quality! [...]
