WEUV Huntsville AL 1700 verification

Steve Murry at WEUP in Huntsville, Alabama, sent me a nice e-mail confirming my reception report og WEUV on 1700 last winter. WEUV has been heard several times, both at Lista and at my home QTH, always mixing with either WJCC in Florida or KVNS in Texas – or on some occasions both stations. WEUV [...]

Logs this weekend

Good conditions on mediumwave on Friday and Saturday with a couple of new South Americans heard around sunrise. There were also interesting signals on several other frequencies. Sunday morning was a big disappointment because of storm activities on the sun.

CFRA Ottawa ON 580 verification

Conditions towards North America were very good during the first weeks of January 2006 and one of the stations which made it to my home QTH was CFRA in Ottawa. CFRA is not supposed to be a difficult station to hear, but I have only managed to hear them just this morning. After 6 months, [...]

WPLM Plymouth MA 1390 verification

WPLM in Plymouth, Massachussetts, replied with a nice e-mail today. WPLM is quite an easy catch at my place, it is the second most common US station on 1390. WPLM was heard with an excellent signal level at Lista in February, often with a better signal than the usual dominant station WEGP in Maine. WPLM [...]

WAXY Miami FL 790 verification

WAXY “790 The Ticket” is heard at times on 790 in Southern Norway. Steve White, Executive Producer, sent me an e-mail last week that simply said “Yep….this is us alright. That’s pretty amazing” when replying to my e-mail with audio file. I guess that’s about as short a verification text as you can get. [...]

WSOK Savannah GA 1230 verification

WSOK in Savannah, Georgia, was another station heard on 1230 on our DX pedition to Lista in February. WSOK was heard all three nights playing nonstop gospel music. Several hours of listening were needed to get an ID, hard to tell if that was because the station don’t identify very often or because of the [...]

Good conditions on mediumwave

Transatlantic conditions on mediumwave has been good during the past couple of mornings and I have been able to hear a couple of interesting stations even though I haven’t put up any decent antennas yet.
Here is the log:
600 12.9 0430 R. Rebelde, Urbano Norris, was the strongest station here, but an unidentified LA station was [...]

Finally – a log!

It’s been a very long time since I last tuned the bands, so I have had no fresh logs to present in this blog. Hopefully this will change now when the days are shortening. Here’s a log from a couple of days back:
9703,9 3.9 2250 La Voix du Sahel, Niger, heard very well tonight with [...]

WXTC Charleston SC 1390 verification

Brief e-mail from Justin Tucker, Chief Engineer/MIS  Director of Citadel Broadcasting  Company confirming my report on WXTC in Charleston, South Carolina, on 1390 kHz.  WXTC was heard several times last winter, both at Lista and at home, always playing gospel music.

WNRP Gulf Breeze FL 1620 verification

Yesterday I received my first postal verification in months: WNRP in Pensacola, Florida, replied with a nice looking QSL-card and even sent along a red T-shirt showing an “AM 1620″ logo and an American flag. Finding such a parcel in my mailbox sure feels a lot better than finding a verification in the e-mail inbox… [...]

Radio Mundial Oriental 970 verification

Radio Mundial Oriental in Barcelona, Venezuela, replied with an e-mail yesterday. The station was heard on both expeditions to Lista last season, usually well below WZAN in Maine or Radio Super in Colombia. At times the signal of Radio Mundial Oriental faded in above these 2 stations though. v/s was Yurlay Rojas, Lic. en Administración.
